OUR DUTY

Today, “environment” is one of the hottest words in the world. As is widely accepted, environmental protection is everyone’s responsibility. People from all walks of life can participate in this activity, but to us, it’s not only a job, also a duty.

Last month I went to some our companies in the northwest. It was the first time that I entered the real production places. The visions of the pollution status there were strongly impressed on my memory. I consider that there are three key aspects of solving the environmental problems: management, capital and technology. Among these, technology maybe is not the most important, but it’s indispensable. In other words, technology can’t be skipped over.

Where does the technology come from? From the textbooks? Far from enough! Waiting for someone to give it to us? Give up fantasy! The technology emerges from experiments and practice. We can only depend on our own efforts. We need to take seriously every experiment and every figure. We need to be skilled at various laboratory apparatus and instruments. We need to work harder in the field research. In addition, don’t forget to improve English ability, such as getting involved in today’s speech contest.

Now China is facing serious environmental problems. More work on energy conservation and emissions reduction is urgently required to deal with. It is still a question whether we can avoid taking the old road of “treatment after pollution”. As an important environmental organization of CNPC, our Environmental Center should show our own answer. As to me, being an employee of the Center, I should give my answer by practical actions.

The choice for one time, the duty for one life.
